Lay

A lay is just what it sounds like: sex. In LoRD, this in-game sex is both strategic and social.

How to Get a Lay

For Male Players

Male Players may get laid by writing Romantic Mail to any female player in their realm. If the mail recipient agrees, by selecting (S)leep with him, the system lets the male player know he's gotten laid. This can be immediate if the male player is online, or if he isn't, he will be informed by the game upon his next login. All lays between players, or between players and Seth/Violet, are mentioned in the Daily News.

Male players may also get a lay from Violet, if their charm is 32 or more.

Male players can gain an additional lay in the Forest if they successfully perform a tower rescue. The game tells them they get to sleep with the princess for a number of minutes equivalent to their current charm score.

For Female Players

Female players may get laid by writing Romantic Mail to any male player in their realm. Female players do not get to lay the prince during a successful tower rescue. This exemption allows the female players the option to try to marry Seth in a white dress (aka virgin), which is worth a significant amount of exp points at low levels.

Uses of a Lay

• for female characters, every 5 lays brings the opportunity to have another child

• The player who sends a lay request will receive 50*lvl exp. if it is accepted and lose the same amount if it is rejected. The receipient of a lay request will not gain or lose experience regardless of their response.

• lays are sometimes traded to duel opponents before agreed-to online duels

• lays are sometimes asked in response to gold requests following a dragon kill

• some players gain reputations for accepting all lays and shoot to the top of the Lays category on the Stats Page for their realm, where the top five are preserved for posterity on the Previous Games page
• gaining 50 lays or more during a round puts a player at risk of contracting a random venereal disease which drops your HP to 1 until you heal yourself. Some players limit their lays to less than 50 to avoid this.
